ASMR Study Videos Saved Me
I am obsessed with productivity, getting more done and achieving goals. However, perfection is a myth so there are times when I simply cannot be bothered to do anything. Sleep and Netflix is the most attractive option for the day, I can’t focus for more than two minutes without needing a “coffee” or some snack from the kitchen.
Things have changed though, I am a new person. I am back on track and fully focused to finish my 150 article challenge for the month of March. I am going strong! What gave me the motivation to pull myself out of my low-productivity, lazy, rut? ASMR.
What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, also known as “brain massage.” It is a satisfying sensory response to certain sounds or visuals like crackling, tapping, whispering, clicking or images that appear satisfying or interesting such as putty or marbles in a glass bowl.
As a youngster I was obsessed with clicky, clunky keyboards, old landline phones with large keys, huge slurpy cups with chunky straws and I loved the sound of clicking keyboards. I also had a thing for the sound of paper and writing in notebooks. That scratchy writing sound and large, chunky notebooks with chunky pens. My favourite time of the year was September, back to school time. I would spend all my pocket money on brand new stationery, satisfying, chunky stationery.
Some months ago, I discovered ASMR videos, not just any ASMR videos though, study and keyboard typing ASMR videos. These videos usually contain no music, just minutes or hours of keyboard typing, writing and paper shuffling. The other day, I was struggling to remain focused, every little thing set me off course and I just couldn’t get anything done. My son, who also seems to be obsessed with ASMR, sent me a study video to help me focus. I watched it, and I was hooked.
My productivity has skyrocketed and I am writing 10,000 to 15,000 words per day now, no problem!
Here are some of the benefits I have experienced as a result of using ASMR study videos as background noise for my work sessions:
My anxiety has pretty much disappeared however, it seems to resurface when my productivity levels drop. Recently, I have been struggling to remain focused but with my new found ASMR video hack, my anxiety has reduced significantly. Actually, it’s vanished, completely.
Over the past few weeks, I have been super productive. Getting more done and slashing the amount of time that I spend working because I am just so productive.
I use Pomodoro sessions and flowtime to stay focused, ASMR videos are facilitating my work sessions and helping me stay completely focused on tasks.
Work sessions are fun
Works sessions are more enjoyable, I simply cannot wait to get started on my tasks for the day. I set up my work station, wear my noise-cancelling headphones and I’m good to go!
ASMR study videos are so aesthetically pleasing that you have no choice but to tidy up your workspace and get to work. There is no room for messy workspaces, clean, tidy and aesthetically pleasing or nothing.
