Big Lessons Learned From a Conversation With A Hotel Cleaner
I had a conversation with a hotel cleaning lady, the conversation kept me awake at night
Today I spent time chatting with the cleaner in my hotel
Our conversation left me feeling motivated, inspired, and weary at the same time.
The gratitude that oozes through my veins as I write this, I can’t even explain it in words. She told me that her mother died when she was younger, she didn’t finish high school because her father didn’t have the money to pay for her school fees. She works as a cleaner to support herself, she’s been through a whole lot.
“Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.” — Amy Collette
Conversations like this fill my heart with absolute gratitude. Life isn’t fair.
How can gratitude change your life?
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…. It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” -Melodie Beattie
Gratitude puts things into perspective. You want more, sure! There is nothing wrong with wanting a better life, especially if you feel like you are not where need to be right now however, leaning into gratitude will give you peace of mind.
Be grateful for everything you have now while you execute, plan, implement and strategize.
Many of us who were born in developing countries are ungrateful for what we have.
We complain too much. The Internet isn’t working today! Booo hooo! Go for walk, listen to music, read, write with a pen and paper, listen to the trees blowing in the wind. Listen to the birds singing, talk to someone face to face. Live in the moment.
