It’s Too Late to Start Making Money Online
I recently had a long conversation with an ex-colleague who works a nine to five job. Her exact words were:
“It’s too late to start making money online”
The topic came up because she was complaining about needing extra money to supplement her existing income. As you can imagine, I gave her a few tips on how to make some extra money on the Internet. I make a full-time living online as a writer and entrepreneur, I pointed her in the direction of selling online or freelancing. After all, she works as an office manager, she has plenty of useful skills and freelancing would probably be a breeze for her.
Anyway, her scepticism about working online got me thinking. Is it really too late to start making money online? Or, to start working from home as an independent business owner? My answer is a big, huge, massive no!
This is actually the perfect time to start making money online, according to datareportal.com, there are more than 4.66 billion Internet users in the world. We have the world at our fingertips, many people make money from their cell phones, making money online is not dead. Well, that’s my opinion anyway.
Here are some of the reasons people are sceptical about making money online:
The market is saturated
Often people that throw shade on making money online are scared that the market is saturated. Too many people doing the same thing online, there is nothing unique anymore.
I can understand doubts like this however, they are simply not true. An excellent example of someone who took seemingly ordinary products that anyone could make at home and transformed them into a multi-million dollar business is the owner of BlackXMoon Cosmetic, Mariee Revere.
Revere is well known for making natural skincare products and targeting a specific demographic. Upon relaunch of her popular brand, she sold more than $1million in just eight minutes
She is proof that nothing is impossible when it comes to building an online income.
Here are some more reasons why some people are scared of stepping into the online business arena.
Lack of Knowledge
This is a major one, that fear of the unknown is understandable. Not wanting to step into a whole new realm due to a lack of knowledge. The easiest way to get over this fear is to put your head down and learn. It is easier said than done though, I have been earning an extra $3000-$5000 per month with one of my side hustles and I didn’t just learn on my own, I worked with a mentor, a coach that held my hand and guided me through the process.
This is the coach that I worked with to help me build my side hustle >>>>Fabilous Journey
She has helped me to build a profitable side business from home. I was terrified at first so that’s why I opted to work with a mentor as opposed to battling through information overload on my own.
Lack of time
Being time poor is another factor that prevents people from starting an online side hustle. The truth is most people waste time. There are plenty of extra hours in the day to get things done however, most often we waste away hours doing things like scrolling on social media, idle chit chat and watching television.
Lack of time is a genuine concern however, a side hustle is a side hustle for a reason, it is something you do on the side to earn extra money. Sometimes your side hustle accidentally turns into your main hustle but side hustles are not supposed to consume your time, an hour or two each day should be enough to start building a side business.
Fear of being scammed
One of my business mentors used to tell me that “scared money, makes no money.” Meaning that you have to take risks when it comes to building wealth, you can’t just sit around in fear hoping for the best, you got to work! There are plenty of scams out there but there are also plenty of legitimate businesses that you could start.
That question again, is it too late to start making money online? My answer again, no! It really isn’t, if you are scared, just get a mentor or coach like I did. Good luck!
