My Son’s YouTube Channel Gained 1k Subscribers in Less than Eight Weeks
My son is 11 years old, he started a YouTube channel, I frowned upon it at first but I let it slide and just gave him his creative freedom. He mainly does mobile gameplay videos on his channel and in less than eight weeks, he gained 1,000 subscribers. How did he do it?
Yesterday, I checked my son’s channel and there it was, the coveted 1,000 subscribers. He managed to reach this number in a short space of time and I asked him how he did it. His response:
“Oh, I just comment once in a while, that’s all.”
He seems quite laid back about his YouTube growth methods so, I did a little digging and discovered that his comments coupled with his videos on Little Nightmares seemed to have done the trick.
Where does he comment?
I’m not sure if my son planned his commenting strategy or if he just randomly commented on massive channels like Dan TDM and Mr Beast. However, I noticed that he had placed comments on a few huge channels, he was the first to comment in some cases which is a really effective way of getting eyeballs on your content.
I checked the comments and most of the time he would say something that made people respond. Like a question or an unpopular response to something in the video.
He has gained over 100 subscribers since he hit 1k and I think by the end of tomorrow, he should have reached 1200 subs. Meanwhile, head over to Facebook and take a peek into one of those YouTube growth pages and people are struggling to hit the 1k mark, even with good quality content. I’m thinking that the kid factor kind of helps but at the same time, I have seen many kid channels that are still sitting at 50 subs despite uploading decent quality content at least three to four times per week.
I am actually really impressed with my boy's tenacity and dedication to his passion which is gaming. As a mother, I am learning to just sit back and observe instead of trying to micromanage every little thing he does. It is difficult though because at first, I wanted him to focus on creating a different type of content but he seems to have grown into his niche and I’m not going to stop him.
I am proud of my son and I want his channel to grow to 1 million subscribers and more. He deserves it.
